Media analytics & data visualization

Word Cloud

This Word Cloud was created using written data about recent trends in the fields of media, data, and publication. I chose the font and colors to give a very professional, yet modern look to align with the subject matter. I also edited the Word Cloud to only include important words that best describe the data. The overall look and all design choices help with readability, understanding, and appeal.

Tableau Dashboard

This dashboard features data about social media management engagement from posts across the world. The data set is from Figshare and the dashboard arranges the data to clearly compare post results with variables of region, hashtag, content type, platform, and more. The simple and easy-to-read charts, along with color coding and labeling, assist in making the data set of over 5,000 entries approachable and easy to understand.

My target audience for this data set is social media managers, marketing professionals, or individuals interested in improving their personal social media presence. This audience ranges in analytical understanding, so I wanted to make this dashboard easy to understand and only include helpful information. I first started by making column charts that allow viewers to see how captions, content type, and platforms affect the engagement. Then, I created pie charts to show the relationships between views, engagement levels, and platforms.

The top left chart shows the number of high engagement posts in which each caption is used. Below that column chart is another chart to compare the number of comments, likes, and shares across multiple types on content published on various platforms. The column chart in the middle of the dashboard shows views separated by which region the posts were published in. This allows us to easily see which region's posts received the most views overall. The top pie chart shows us how many views each level of engagement of posts received. Low engagement posts (orange) received the most views, medium engagement posts (red) received the least views, and high engagement posts received an amount in between the two others. The second pie chart shows the views each platforms' posts received. Orange represents TikTok, blue represents Instagram, red represents Twitter (X), and green/teal represents YouTube.
